Guests arriving at every hour
Salinas hotels and motels sit along the 101 and the roads out toward Monterey, and their guests keep odd hours. Produce buyers and growers’ partners arrive for the season, travelers break up a drive down the coast, and fans pour in for California Rodeo Salinas in July, the airshow at the city’s airport and Monterey Car Week in August. Every one of them wants a lit lot, a calm lobby and a quiet hallway.
Salinas Security posts officers who protect that experience. They watch the doors and the lot, keep people who aren’t staying with you out of the corridors and give your front desk a partner when the night gets long.
Lobby and front desk coverage
A lobby officer stands where arriving guests see them first. They greet people, point the way to the elevator or the breakfast room and quietly note anyone who wanders in without a reservation. When a visitor asks which room a guest is in, the officer backs the desk clerk and follows your privacy policy.
Late check-ins after a long drive go smoother with someone steady nearby. The officer can walk a guest to a far wing, help with a stuck side door and keep the lobby seating for guests rather than people looking for a place to sleep.
Night audit hours
Between midnight and dawn, the front desk can be down to one clerk running the audit. That is when a disturbance or an unwelcome visitor is hardest to handle. An overnight officer splits the time between the lobby and timed rounds of the corridors, stairwells, ice and vending rooms and back doors.
On each round the officer checks that exit doors are latched, pool gates are locked and nobody is camped in a stairwell. A propped door, a burned-out light or a noisy room goes into the log with the time, and the morning manager reads it with their coffee.
Parking, pool and grounds
Guests’ cars sit in your lot all night, often loaded with luggage, tools or sample cases. On each patrol stop, the officer drives the far rows, walks behind the building and writes down any dark corner of the lot. For more on lot coverage, see our parking lot and garage security page.
At closing time the officer clears the pool and courtyard and locks the gates. Properties that don’t need a full-time post can book mobile patrol visits instead, with a marked car stopping by at random hours through the night.
Event weeks, weddings and banquets
Rodeo week and the late-summer event calendar fill rooms fast and keep lobbies busy past midnight. A second officer for those dates handles the extra traffic in the lot and the lobby without pulling your regular post off its rounds.
Ballrooms and banquet spaces bring their own crowds: wedding receptions, quinceaƱeras, reunions and company dinners. Officers can watch the doors, keep party guests out of the guest-room floors and walk the lot as the event lets out. Larger gatherings fit into our event security service.
Officers, reports and paperwork
Unarmed officers suit most hotel posts, with a polished, guest-facing manner. Every officer is background checked before the first shift, and a supervisor makes quality inspections at your property. Where a location needs more, armed officers are available too.
Shift reports and incident reports with photos arrive by email, so the general manager and the owner see the same record. Your property receives a certificate of insurance before the first shift, and month-to-month terms let you add officers for a busy season and drop back afterward.
